Hands-On Experience for Jet Aviation Sponsored GAMA Design Challenge Winners
For 10 years now, General Aviation Manufactures Association (GAMA) has been facilitating an Aviation Design Challenge that allows high school students to form a team and cultivate a solution regarding the specific curriculum for the given year.
The 2022 Challenge had 66 schools participating that spanned 28 states. Throughout all 10 GAMA Design Challenges, 48 states have participated with only Vermont and Wyoming yet to bring forth a team. The 2022 first place winners were Harkness Career and Technical Center from Cheektowaga, NY and the second-place team was Raisbeck Aviation High School from Tukwila, WA.
Jet Aviation is proud to have sponsored the 2022 challenge and looks forward to continuing support for future challenges. This competition is made possible by its sponsors, and we are dedicated to generating excitement and providing avenues into aviation for students and young individuals.
Just recently, the Aviation Design Challenge winners Harkness Career and Technical Center, participated in a fabrication experience at the CubCrafters welding facility. A hands-on experience is awarded to both the first and second place winners of the Design Challenge every year— providing an opportunity for students to immerse themselves into real-life manufacturing scenarios. The second-place experience is expected to take place later in October.
“Creating excitement for students revolving around aviation is critical for the future of our industry and I believe what GAMA has done with their Aviation Challenge is a wonderful step in the right direction”

As the challenge continues to evolve and grow over time, it will be fun to see the different students, locations, and solutions it will attract.”
With the 2023 Design Challenge registration now open, we look forward to seeing all the teams that choose to participate in next year’s competition. The future of our industry is truly in the hands of the next generation, and we are delighted to continue supporting the students and schools that choose to participate in this event.
