Leon, please tell us about your role at our Düsseldorf FBO.

The main task of my department is to manage all traffic in and out of the General Aviation Terminal. We assign the parking positions ourselves and marshal the aircrafts there. Due to the fixed fueling station we are operating on behalf of Shell. We are experts in towing, too. Further we are maintaining a hangar for our customers.

As supervisor, I am helping with daily operations, train all employees and do a lot of administration work. But, most importantly, I am responsible for leading my team to ensure a smooth and safe operation.

What does a typical day for you look like?

There are almost no typical days in my job, because everything depends on our expected traffic and staffing. Sometimes I just work at the ramp as an operator. On other days a do a lot of emails, calls, shift planning, team talks and do all kinds of checks and maintenance of our Ground Support Equipment and at the fueling station.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

I really enjoy the challenge of managing very different situations every day, because this gives me the opportunity to constantly learn and improve. No day is ever the same and I enjoy this perfect mixture of working outside on the ramp as well as inside an office. In my role, my every day goal is to be as caring, focused, and professional as possible.

What are the main challenges you face in your role?

The main challenge in my job is to keep all operations we perform safe. Goal Zero is always my priority. Large trade fairs in Düsseldorf can also be a challenging situation to handle. Our apron is quite small, and we must have a good plan to manage the high traffic volume and timely fueling, like just recently during the EURO 2024 European Football Championship.

What one word would describe how you approach your job?

One word I would use to describe how I approach my role, in all situations, is passion. I am passionate about my job and about what we can achieve as a team here in Düsseldorf.

If you could describe working at Jet in three words, what would they be?

If I had to pick three words to describe my work at Jet Aviation, I would say teamwork, challenging, and thrilling.

And what do you enjoy most about working for Jet Aviation?

I really appreciate being of the Jet Aviation family. The team spirit in this company always amazes me. I would like to express my sincere thanks to my amazing team, with whom I enjoy working with every day. But also, to my management that is always supporting, challenging, and elevating me.

Please tell us a little bit about yourself outside of work:

Outside of work I love going to concerts with my fiancé and spending time with her and our beautiful German-shepherd-mix at the Rhine River.
